Just in time for the Cuatro de MAYhem bout, HGRG has a new sponsor, Pride Foundation.  Pride Foundation works to build the equality movement across the Northwest.  This year, they gave away over $30,000 in grants and $11,000 in scholarships to support the many nonprofits and students working for LGBTQ health, education and civil rights across Montana. All donations from Montanans stay in Montana, and for every dollar raised in state, $3.80 comes back in grants and scholarships!

There are no more Freshmeat practices.  Instead there will be a try-out for the Hellgate Rollergirls 2012 teams.  In the meantime, if you want to join HGRG, come to Drop-In Derby practice on Monday nights.  Drop-In Derby will function as a time for ladies to come and practice and gain skills.

We are moving toward a large try-out at the beginning of the season to draft our teams (and possibly add a third!) and do away with the year-found fresh-meat training.  This will allow everyone to be on the same page (skatewise) as well as greatly simplify our training/ practicing times and processes.  This is not to say that if necessary we won’t have further drafts in the season.  Ladies will not be expected to come into the try-out with a full set of derby skills, but simply as a baseline for everyone to start on the same page.
